Position Summary:


The Electrical Design Engineer will be a part of an engineering team developing the next generation of laser systems for defense applications. This person will be participating in development of electrical/embedded architecture and design, integration and debugging of new electrical hardware and validation of the design in a structured engineering environment to applicable RTCA guidelines, military, SAE and US Defense standards. Additionally, this person will be responsible for documentation of the design changes, supporting transition of new designs to production, as well as for solving complex engineering problems associated with new product introduction


• Management of electrical and firmware requirements and specifications
• Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
• Documentation of design architecture and formal design synthesis
• Modeling and simulation of performance of electrical circuits
• Electrical schematic capture and BOM maintenance
• PCB layout and production of PCB cam files
• Hardware in the loop design verification testing
• Participate in failure root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Support rapid prototyping
• Development of production validation and product acceptance test criteria
• Support transition to production
• Responsible for leading group of engineers on a technical activity and completion of activity on time and budget
• May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments. Ability to lead a technical group independently
• Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
• Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
• Lead and direct the work of others as assigned
• Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization


• Requires a BSEE
• Requires a minimum of 5 years of Electrical Design experience
• Requires proven experience with microcontrollers and/or embedded processors
• Requires proven experience in analog circuit design, DC/DAC, and analog controllers
• Requires an active DOD Security Clearance and ability to obtain special access
• Experience in developing and testing to applicable US Military standards desired
• Once hired, incumbent is required to:
o Develop designs using Altium Designer Suite
o Develop designs per applicable US Military and RTCA DO-178/254 standards
