Overview

The Buyer will evaluate material requirements, order Raw materials and MRO products from selected suppliers based on the specific needs and applications for the products. Manage inventory levels using Microsoft Dynamics SL/JAMS ERP, Kanban system or line of balance spreadsheet.

 

Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Procurement and follow up of raw materials for multiple programs based on MRP’s action items, Kanban system or line of balance to meet production requirements.
  • Prepare bids with multiple suppliers, analyze data and supplier selection justification.
  • Participates in cost and pricing reviews with program management.
  • Follows up, expedites and negotiates changes relative to delivery and supplier performance.
  • Develop KanBan system with VMI Suppliers and establish Min/Max levels.
  • Daily updates of order status, possible shortages and possible expedites to all programs.
  • Work closely with Program managers.
  • Coordinate Outside process operations with suppliers and Shipping department.
  • Work closely with accounts payable and receiving department to review and resolve purchasing discrepancies.
  • Attends MRB meetings and processes supplier returns, replacements and credits.
  • Maintains purchasing records and related documentation accordingly.
  • Monitor inventory levels and customer service requirements to identify system or process-related concerns that need to be raised.
  • Support with Supplier scorecards data and rating.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years experience in NPI/Prototype Purchasing and planning functions.
    • Must have defense experience
    • Good understanding of ERP systems.
    • Experience with CPSR compliance.
    • Good understanding of the FAR and DFAR flow downs.
    • Understanding of the ITAR.
    • Knowledge of purchasing and production planning principles.
    • Proficiency in MS Office.
    • Demonstrate an ability to work independently and make objective decisions.
    • Proficient Negotiations skills, interpersonal skills, and written communication skills are required.
    • Detailed, analytical, and result oriented.
    • Assist in ERP manufacturing modules testing assignments.
    • Active participation in process improvements as identified during the GEMBA walk daily or weekly.
    • Ability to obtain security clearance.
