The Buyer/Planner will evaluate material requirements of multiple commodities, solicit competitive bids and order raw materials from selected suppliers based on the specific needs and applications of the products. Purchasing and Production planning in support of Engineering projects.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Negotiate and execute purchase orders, follow-up and expedite late and pending orders (full purchase order life cycle).
  • Responsible for the creation, release, follow up, aging and completion of production orders against the production plan.
  • Purchasing and planning in support of Engineering projects and NPI.
  • Provides leadership in the continuous improvement of product quality, delivery, productivity and cycle times.
  • Respond to daily shortage report.
  • Works with configuration Management specialist on new Bill of Materials and BOM discrepancies.
  • Develop KanBan system with VMI Suppliers and establish Min/Max levels.
  • Responsible for material configuration changes mandated by issued ECO’s.
  • Coordinate Outside process operations with suppliers and Shipping department.
  • Aligns with AP to resolve supplier invoice and payment issues.
  • Coordinates with warehouse to correct receiving discrepancies.
  • Works directly with Quality in the effort to resolve non-conforming material rapidly (Return to Vendor).
  • Participates in excess and obsolete inventory analysis.
  • Customer order entry and follow-up thru out the order cycle.
  • Maintains Purchasing records and related documentation accordingly.
  • Monitor inventory levels and customer service requirements to identify system or process-related concerns that need to be raised.
  • Create and maintain department metrics and KPI’s.
  • Troubleshoot supply chain issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by manager.




  • Bachelor’s degree with 0-2 years’ experience or High School diploma with 7-10 years’ experience in procurement and planning in a manufacturing environment.
  • APICS, CPIM or CSCP a plus.
  • Proven track of growth and leadership in the Supply Chain.
  • Excellent communication (interpersonal and written), problem solving and time management skills.
  • Purchasing experience in Electro-Optical, Mechanical and Electronic Assemblies preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of MRP system operation.
  • Proficiency with advanced level Excel.
  • Proven self-starter with an ability to work independently and make objective decisions.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision to complete assignments.
