The Senior Project Engineer functions as a technical manager for the development of Daylight’s core products and will derive unrivaled solutions for the company’s commercial, scientific and US Government customers by adapting, enhancing, and codifying Daylight’s core IP based on solid principles in science, technology, engineering, and math. The Senior Project Engineer is required to ensure daily program, project and product objectives are synchronized, progressing and adapting to the unified enterprise objective of customer satisfaction.




  • Individually responsible for providing systems engineering oversight throughout the entire project/product lifecycle for complex development projects
  • Provide cross-functional leadership across domains in order to ensure top-level system requirements and contractual obligations are met
  • Prepare and deliver formal technical work products that are compliant to internal, contractual and regulatory requirements/standards (including, but not limited to, specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICD’s), design documentation, test plans, procedures and test reports)
  • Interact effectively and efficiently as part of a multi-member, multi-function team, as well as with customers and suppliers
  • Ensure Daylight’s customer deliverables meet quality standards by critiquing and guiding the work of others on the technical team
  • Develop and manage development project plans including key deliverables, timeline, and budget
  • Prepare customer briefings and present at major program reviews
  • Use and build upon company enterprise and engineering processes
  • Work resourcefully and with minimal guidance.       Candidate must have the ability to adapt to a fast changing and innovative environment/culture.
  • Support bid and proposal activities that include statement of work reviews, proposal content generation, cost of quality analysis, etc.
  • Utilize strong technical problem solving skills to perform failure analysis, determine corrective actions and execute resolve issues/problems
  • Identify and implement design, process, test and configuration changes
  • Provide technical leadership to formal qualification test activities and ensure test objectives align with, and are traceable to, program requirements. Must be experienced in test data collection, analysis and control.






    • Requires a BS. in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Optics or Systems Engineering (MS is preferred)
    • 10 + years of Project Engineering experience
    • Experience in embedded and/or laser based product development and/or manufacturing a plus
    • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production strongly preferred
    • Experience in formal tests, such as MIL-STD-810/461 and/or DT&E/IOT&E
    • Familiar with IPC, IEC, ISO, Military, IEEE, INCOSE, PMI and similar Standards and Handbooks
    • Experience with IBM Rational DOORS strongly preferred


  • Ability to obtain secret security clearance required. Active secret security clearance preferred.
